The 2018 Security Awareness Summit will feature:

Video Wars: Watch the different training videos organizations have created and hear from them how they created the videos, what worked and did not work, and why.
Show-n-Tell booths: We have expanded the highly popular Show-n-Tell booths to support more booths and a dedicated session for attendees to interact with all the different awareness materials organizations have developed. This is a great opportunity to learn how organizations made the materials, which ones were the most effective and why.
Onsite lunches: Stay for lunch and mix/mingle with other attendees.
Interactive Workshops: In addition to industry leading talks we will host several hands-on workshops where you actually plan and build elements of your awareness program. From phishing assessments and ambassador programs to planning your own escape room, these highly interactive sessions are often the most popular of the summit.
Evening socials: Take a chance to unwind and socialize with your peers at organized social events every night.

“This summit is great for anyone who needs to stand up a program or anyone whose program has been in place for some time and needs to be updated, refreshed, or revamped.” - Elizabeth Williams, USAA

"Excellent content, useful examples, and ‘how to's’ make it relevant and applicable." - Greg Bard, EY

“Loved being in a room with my peers sharing "war stories," and that everyone is so free with information sharing! A great incubator!" - Jennifer Cuthbertson, Wells Fargo

In addition to the Security Awareness Summit, world-class SANS courses are being offered to help you expand your information security expertise. SANS instructors are experienced industry practitioners considered to be among the best cybersecurity instructors in the world. They will provide you and your community with the expert guidance and skills you need to stop cyber-attacks against your organizations.
Who should attend?

Compliance Officers / Legal / Audit: Learn how to effectively ensure your organization is compliant with all standards and regulations that require any type of security awareness, training, and education.
Security Awareness / Culture Officers: This event was made specifically for you, need we say more?
Chief Information Security Officers: Learn what is involved in securing your employees, how you can better support your security awareness program and how to gain support from senior leadership.
Security Engineers / Architects: For those of you who live in the world of securing bits and bytes, take a moment to learn the other side of security, the human world. When approached correctly, organizations are turning their employees into their greatest security strength. Develop new skill sets, advance your career and learn how to take your security program to the next level.
Education / Training: Learn how to take your expertise in the world of training and education and apply that to the world of information security.

Call for Presentations

It’s that time of year again – it’s the SANS Institute’s Annual Call for Presentations for the 4th annual European Security Awareness Summit! This year’s Summit will be Wednesday, 28 November and Thursday, 29 November in London, United Kingdom. We are looking for people who are actively involved in helping organizations build, maintain or measure security awareness programs and can share real-world stories and lessons learned on how they propelled an awareness program to the next level. Our goal is that attendees walk away with actionable lessons they can apply right away to their own organization. Note: to ensure a vendor neutral environment we will not accept any submissions from security awareness vendors.

Prospective presenters for the Security Awareness Summit should provide their submissions no later than Friday 17th August 2018 here https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/SANSSAS2018.

Why Present at the Summit?

Promotion of your speaking session and company recognition via the Security Awareness Summit website, social media and all printed materials
Access to a friendly, supportive environment to develop and enhance your public speaking skills
Complimentary pass to the Summit plus a complimentary Summit guest pass

SANS does not cover travel or hotel expenses for speakers, but we do reserve a block of rooms at a special rate. We also serve a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks on both Summit days.

What are some potential topics to present?

This summit is focused on real world experiences, not theory. We want to hear your stories (both successes and failures) about what you did, your action’s impact and how attendees can apply your lessons learned. The talk submissions most likely to be selected are those focused on a specific topic that have a clear, easy to understand description, and have specific action items / learning objectives for attendees.

Metrics: How did you measure and communicate the impact of your awareness program? Did you measure behaviors, culture or something else. How did you communicate those results and how did you define success?
Value: How did you communicate the value of your program to leadership to gain and maintain their support?
Topics / Risks: How did you identify and prioritize your top human risks, and identify the behaviors to manage those risks?
Little Budget / Big Impact: Most programs are challenged by having minimal budgets, how did you make the most of your resources? How were you able to create a big impact and how did you know you had made an impact?
Special Events That Work: How to host an event that has an impact that you can measure, such as hacking demos, event booths or escape rooms?
