#1280492: Re-visioning war? Global Britain and UK defence policy

Description:	Description The twenty-first century has witnessed major shifts in the character of warfare. Many of the traditional military powers face common strategic challenges, including renewed Great Power competition, the persistent threat of terrorism (combined with evolving terrorist methods) and the role of emerging technologies, including the ‘weaponization of information’. Non-state actors are likely to have increasing access to many of the new technologies that are currently available only to state actors. At this event organised in collaboration with International Affairs, the journal of Chatham House, a panel of experts will consider how successfully the UK government is adapting to this new security landscape. How should ‘Global Britain’ shape its defence policy, and what threats should its military most urgently address? How should the United Kingdom engage with multilateral defence organisations such as NATO? And how worried should we be about Russia? This event will be followed by a drinks reception. This is a free event, which means we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
